Starbucks is now selling the Grateful Dead.

Nothing much to say other than when I saw that Starbucks is selling a Greatful Dead album I was surprised as I never really thought of Dead Heads going to Starbucks often or being their key clientel.  However, after talking with a Barista it sounds like alot of Dead Heads have given up the life on the road and become a key target market for Starbucks.

What do you think, is it weird that Starbucks, a giant corporation is selling a Grateful Dead album?

[Sidenote: I bet I have motivated at least one person to go down to Starbucks and buy the album as soon as they read this post.  Starbucks, you're welcome.]

Grateful Dead…of course. :-) Just like you used to only see VWs at the coop, now… I’m curious what Dead album they are selling. Think I’ll run down to Starbucks now! Very Cool.

After viewing the new Dead CD at Starbucks im left shaking my head a bit. I only looked at the CD for about a min. and I didnt take notes, but it seams to me that unless your buying the CD as a collectable, all the tunes have already been released on several diferent Cds. There was nothing different I could see. For $18 and change…. I couldnt see buying … I would think this CD isn’t made for the “Dead Heads” … but rather to be made for the people wanting some sort of Dead music and dont know how to find the good stuff. The woman did say they had sold 4 or 5 copies in the first week and she sounded like it was a good thing. I guess I would of thought , that if Starbuck’s was after their Dead Head base … they could have been a little more creative … like perhaps a recorded live show at Red Rocks in Co.
