The Jawbone!
I just got my own Jawbone today! It is amazing from what I have seen (heard?) so far. I was able to turn up my stereo, stand in front of the speaker, and as soon as I started talking, the background noise faded out and the person I was talking to could hear perfectly what I was saying.
Prviously I had loved the idea of a bluetooth headset, but the one I had was mroe annoying than anything. I couldn’t hear, the person I was talking to couldn’t hear, it was always something. I hope with this investment (big sale though) that I will enjoy the experience again…and be safe to drive on the road.
Check out the demo video, it’s pretty incredible.
Blackberry and Facebook… making eachother better.
So last week Facebook released a Facebook Application strictly for the Blackberry. Now, I’m sure there are plenty of people using their iPhone’s to update their profiles on Facebook, but this app is going after a totally different market. Now there is a convenient way for the executives on the go to see when someone wrote on their wall, see friends status updates, take and share pictures, etc. All from their Blackberry and without using the slow and clunky browser.
Not only does this help Facebook land more of a mature audience, but it also helps give Blackberry a great new app to lure in the younger crowd. With the Blackberry Curve and the Pearl both having cameras, being small, and looking good. Why wouldn’t you want to have Facebook, email and gchat at your fingertips.
Since I use both Facebook and my Blackberry 8800 excessively I’m happy to see this roll-out for two of my more major addictions.
Why I can’t get into soccer
And people call NBA, MLB, and NFL players bad fighters?
Pike Place Market Neighborhood?
Came across this great story today. The neighborhood of “Pike Place Market” was just named to the top ten list of best neighborhoods in the country by the American Planning Assosciation.
A few problems
- Pike Place Market is a market not a neighborhood. It is in between the West Edge, Downtown, and Belltown neighborhoods. I think there’s only a single condo building in the market and I don’t think that can make up an entire neighborhood.
- There is a picture in the article of “residents” enjoying Steinbrueck park. Umm, they’re either homeless (not a part of the neighborhood if you don’t have a home I guess?) or tourists. Again, this park is not a place that the residents hang out at.
- Over 10 million people supposedly visit Pike Place Market every year. I live in Alki and get sick enough of the ammount of people that come here in the summer, I couldn’t imagine that the “residents” of the “Pike Place Market community” would really enjoy that many visitors if they did in fact live there.
I wonder how this list was created, how Pike Place became a neighborhood, and really if there was any local research done on this piece. Lake Oswego also was named one of the best neighborhoods. Way to represent NW.
